Ivan Linero, Executive Director
Mr. Linero comes to HCSNV from the Hispanic Committee of
Virginia, where he gained extensive financial literacy and
credit counseling experience as a homeownership education
and housing counselor. He brings to HCSNV a broad range
of experience in nonprofit programs and fundraising, as
well as executive and leadership capacities.
His organizational guidance ensures that HCSNVs programs
become an even stronger community resource, supporting clients
who seek financial counseling, housing solutions, and a
sustainable quality of life for their families.
A native of Bogota, Colombia, Mr. Lineros bilingual
capabilities allow him to assist HCSNVs Spanish-speaking
clients in need of housing guidance. He earned his M.B.A.
from West Texas A&M University, and is a Certified Homebuyer
Education Professional and Freddie Mac CreditSmart program
certified educator.
Melanie Doon, Development Officer
Ms. Doon is responsible for researching, identifying, and
soliciting grants from major funding resources, as well
as developing and executing HCSNV fundraising strategies.
Additionally, Ms. Doon seeks and maintains relationships
with corporate sponsors, and works to create optimal organizational
visibility and awareness of HCSNVs mission in the
nonprofit and business community. She possesses more than
15 years of communications, marketing, and public relations
experience in both nonprofit and corporate environments.
Prior to joining HCSNV, Ms. Doon was a business development
proposal writer for a national healthcare services corporation.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in English from George Mason
University, a paralegal certificate from The George Washington
University, and a grant writing certificate from the Foundation
Center.
Gloria Figueras, Housing Counselor/Case Manager
Ms. Figueras began her work with HCSNV as a foreclosure
prevention counselor. Currently, she provides housing counseling
and advocacy for HCSNVs clients facing homelessness.
She works with clients to identify the nature of the crisis,
and determine the appropriate steps toward resolution.
Additionally, she receives referrals from and reports case
outcomes to Fairfax Countys Office of Coordinated
Services Planning. She helps clients locate affordable housing,
arrange for partial rent, mortgage or utility payments,
and refer them to other community and social services.
Previously, Ms. Figueras was a paralegal assisting clients
with bankruptcy, foreclosure, and personal finance/budgeting
issues. She attended Northern Virginia Community College
and received her Comprehensive Housing Counselor Certification
through the Virginia Association of Housing Counselors.
